leave it to vogue italia to make the concept of deh crazy cat-lady irrepressibly chic. so bon. also, this month's vogue italia, that still hasn't hit stands in the states, is supposedly going to be revolutionary for its editorials featuring only models of color. i am excited to get my hands on it to see for myself just how ground-breaking its really going to be.

time for some stories...
david sedaris, augusten burroughs, our generation has been defined by authors who devote themselves to making a literary art form out of the dysfunctional family. one of my newest favorites is this guy...i don't know his real name, but he posts as davesecretaryatwork and writes things like: EVERY GODDAMNED CHRISTMAS MY DAD AND MY UNCLE RON GET INTO IMPORTANT ARGUMENTS ABOUT POLITICS AND THE BEST AIRPORTS IN ZURICH AND WHICH PRESIDENTS ARE ASSHOLES IN PERSON AND THAT SORT OF THING. MY OTHER UNCLE D. IS KIND OF THE BLACK SHEEP IN THE FAMILY AND WE DON'T PAY MUCH ATTENTION TO HIM.(yes, the ALL caps are his) if you want more, go here: http://carbonmonoxiide.angelfire.com/TIME_FOR_SOME_STORIES.htm and be prepared to laugh...because its not like y'all can't relate.
p.s. this post is dedicated to the helens (you know who you are)

wonderland
ok, ok, one last thing and then ill leave all y'all alone. check out this site:http://www.yeondoojung.com/artworks_view_wonderland.php?no=88. the photographer, yeon doo jung, has a photography project called "wonderland" that will honestly make you say "why didn't i think of that?" he takes children's drawings and brings them to life, quite literally, in his photographs, staging them according to the way things are set up in the drawings. cool concept, and its even cooler that he is verrrry careful not to let his adult perception cloud things, and tries his hardest to preserve that...hmmm...is wonderment the right word? that is so inherent in the imaginations of kids. from their minds to paper to through his lens. it makes you feel like the world isn't so boring after all.
ihhh im baaaack. miss me? jeez, i don't know if anyone even reads this thing, but thats not why i do it. aaanyways, ive been in kind of a funk recently, and things that i usually enjoy haven't held their usual luster for me. this includes blogging. i'm in such a funny, flummoxed, in-flux place right now, but i know im not alone. hundreds of thousands, hell, maybe even millions of recent (unemployed) college graduates are probably feeling the same thing. contributing to the overwhelming sensation of "now what?" is the equally exhilarating feeling of "now what?"...any suggestions?

17 girls at Gloucester (where I have spent my summers since infancy) High School are pregnant. According to news sources, the majority of the girls were part of a "pregnancy pact," which, aside from the initial reaction of "ohmygod thats terrible," provokes another reaction of "ohmygod that terrible," terrible that these little girls (because thats what they are, really) feel that the only way they can get any affection and sense of self-worth is from having these babies. :( There is an article set to run in the upcoming edition of TIME magazine...check it out fo' yo'selves.
