i am in a food coma after a bon din with la familia. an amazing steak dinner was obviously in order to celebrate recent achievements of sissy & myself and also the departure of sissy for la dolce vita in...6 DAYS! so we ate, drank, and were merry & time spent with them is always good for the soul. but i am now le tired after said carnivorous binge...& have to join the human tide early tomorrow! so, sleep well loved ones!

in keeping with the theme of fierce females (note the jem post below) i would love to share with you a little tidbit that i am sure i will not be the only one to find MIND-BOGGLING. apparently, julia child was a SPY. now, i don't know how a 6-ft tall, nasal-voiced, meat-cleaver wielding woman would be considered inconspicuous, but hey, what do i know? speaking of spy girls, the above illustration is a compilation of all the james bond novel covers, complete with sexxxy female foil. octopussy, anyone?

when i was 5, jem was it for me. i mean, i even had her feature length film (straight to VHS, obv.) but i wanted sosososo badly to have the earrings, synergy, and that bitchin' closet. these illustrations struck me as vaguely jem-ish...what do you think? also, at the bottom, there's the opening segment of her show...so goooood.

these are incredible...just incredible. i love the juxtaposition of the delicacy of the arabic script combined with the harshness and implied violence of the gun barrels. and the concept of the body as a canvas? oh please, its all just too much.
